Carlos Kameni might stay at Espanyol; Frank De Boer rejects Stekelenburg approach from Roma
Cameroonian goalkeeper, Carlos Kameni, might stay put at Espanyol despite huge interest from Italian giants, A.S Roma.
Roma are in the hunt for a new number one to replace Alexander http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. Several names have been linked to the Giallorossi and Kameni is believed to be their main priority.
The Spanish outfit had granted Cameroonian international the permission to speak to the Italian side but both parties could not reach on a conclusion. Espanyol have told the shot-stopper to resolve his future in the next few days
or return to the training to prepare for next La Liga season.
The club’s official website read: "http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Kameni-c8464 will have to report to Espanyol in the next few hours after the failure to reach a definite agreement with AS Roma for his transfer.”
"Hence, if in the next few hours there are no new developments, Kameni will have to undergo a medical with Espanyol and join the first team in pre-season training in Peralada."
Kameni joined Espanyol in 2004 and has made more than 200 appearances for the Parakeets thus far.
On the other hand, Ajax, have confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998.
Reports in the Italian media have constantly linked the Dutch international with a move to Rome but Ajax manager, Frank De Boer, has denied rumours. Stekelenburg has only one year left on his current contract with the Amsterdam
based side and the manager is hopeful that the shot-stopper will commit his future with Ajax.
“At the moment there is no interest in him. We now need to clarify if he is staying or not and whether he wants to sign a new contract. If he doesn’t extend then he will probably be sold during the January transfer window.” added

The 28-year-old emerged from the youth ranks of Ajax in 2002 and has made more than 200 appearances for the club thus far.
