Carlos Lee sparks as Houston Astros defeat Colorado Rockies 9-6 - MLB Update

Houston Astros’ first baseman, Carlos Lee had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit four RBIs including one run and went 1-for-2 with an average of .277 in the Astros’ 9-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Minute Maid Park, Houston on September 22.
Eric Young Jr. walked but Dexter Fowler flied out and Jordan Pacheco struck-out without adding any run during the first inning. Similarly, Astros’ batters did not find any way to steal runs and got out. Jordan Schafer and Jose Altuve both ground out to third
base while J.D. Martinez struck-out swinging at the bottom of the first.
Both teams executed particularly well during the second inning as the Rockies were able to score one run and Astros also scored one run to tie the game 1-1. Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a grounder into fielder’s choice to the pitcher and Troy Tulowitzki scored a
single run. Seth Smith got out at second base at the end of Rockies’ second inning.
On the other side, Brian Bogusevic scored the tie run for Houston when Clint Barmes drove a double-run shot to left-field. In the third inning, Rockies posted one run while Astros’ batters completed three runs to take a 4-2 lead. Young Jr. posted the leading
run when Fowler moved to second base on the wild pitch of Astros’ starter Henry Sosa.
Conversely, Altuve, Martinez and Sosa each singled to complete a three-run campaign for Astros when Lee drove towards deep centre-field. In the fifth inning, Schafer scored one run to raise the Astros lead 5-2 when Lee hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field.
Kouzmanoff homered towards left-field to add a single run for the Rockies during the seventh.
At the bottom of the seventh, Chris Johnson, Altuve and Lee each made one run to give the Astros an 8-3 lead when Matt Downs drove towards deep left-centre. In the eighth inning, Rockies’ batters blasted three runs and Astros were able to score one run to
get a 9-6 lead. Wilin Rosario hit a three-run homer to left-field while Smith and Kouzmanoff both added two collective runs to keep the Rockies alive.
Barmes contributed the final run for Astros when Schafer hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field and J.R. Towles moved to third base. However, Astros led off the four-game series 1-0 after beating the Rockies in an exciting encounter.
