Carlos Agustin Marmol is one of the infallible features of the Chicago Cubs. A saver prominently known for his excellent performances, he started his career as a catcher and outfielder. The rise of this player as a reliever testifies the fact that he has

an important part of the Chicago Cubs.
The toughest competitor he had to face back then was none other than legendary, Kevin Gregg. Both of them fought for the position of closer; which was ultimately won by Marmol. He got the DHL Delivery Man Award in 2010 that once again a reminder of what
this player was capable of. The player has shown the bright side of his pitching skills which distinguishes him in the team.
In the year 2011, the reliever appeared in 75 games, pitching a total of 74 innings. He maintained an ERA of 4.01 having had no less than 34 saves for the Chicago Cubs. He had a total of 99 strikeouts to his credit, giving up a total of 33 runs. His career
average stands at 3.37, which by all standards, serves as an evidence of his good performance as closer. He has had a total of 95 saves in the 391 games that he played in, winning 18 and losing 25 with 1.28 WHIP.
While the holes in the roster are being continuously filled, it is yet to be ascertained as to which pitchers the Chicago Cubs would opt for this year. There is no denial of the fact that this player has the capability to do be an effective closer for the
Chicago Cubs.
With new pitchers that the Chicago Cubs are planning to induct in the team, it would be interesting to see what position Marmol gets. If he is named to be the closer for this year, he will be a good addition to the Cubs.
