Carlos Puyol comes to “watch” training sessions in Camp Nou

The Spanish League Champions, Barcelona, are training these days for their tour to Asia. The Spanish giants told the Asian teams that they are going to start their pre-season in Asia and are going to take a young squad along them because the “real” squad would be out on vacations because of their tiresome routine during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
The French player Eric Abidal was the first player to return to training after the World Cup, as the French were the first ones to return home after a disappointing knock-out in the group stages.
Barcelona’s youngsters are getting famous day by day as they are performing really well on the field. He was in the starting 11 of the Spanish team as players like Jesus Navas and even Cesc Fabregas, were left on the bench. The Spaniards started off with 7 out of 8 players from Barcelona; including the new signing, David Villa. Only their goalkeeper, Victor Valdes, was left on the bench as a substitute to undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in the world, Iker Casillas.
The Spaniards took a disappointing start to the FIFA World Cup 2010. Their first match was against the Swiss and they lost the match 1-0, as the Swiss did not let the great Spanish strikers penetrate through their defence. Even though the Spaniards did not manage to win their first match, they still pulled off two wins in the group stages.
They came off against the South American teams, Honduras and Chile. In the match against Honduras, David Villa struck two amazing goals while in the match against the Chileans, both the Barcelona players; David Villa and Andres Iniesta, scored 1 goal apiece  to win the match 2-1. The win against the Chileans helped the Spaniards qualify for the pre quarter finals, in which they had to face Portugal.
The team led by the Real Madrid magician, Cristiano Ronaldo, could not live up to its expectations. Even though they were amazing at defending; they did not manage to trouble the Spanish defence. The new player for Barcelona, David Villa was able to find a goal in the second half as the amazing Portuguese goalkeeper deflected the shot right onto his feet. The second time, Villa did not make a mistake and bagged himself a goal and a win for his country. The win against the Portuguese won Spaniards a pass to the quarter finals, where they had to face the Paraguayans.
Paraguay did not look to be a very good team on paper but they proved the world wrong by providing the Spaniards with tough competition. The Paraguayans even won a penalty during the second half but they were unable to utilize as Iker Casillas was able to block the shot taken by the Paraguayan number 7. Spaniards then won a penalty which was taken by Xabi Alonso. Alonso was able to score a goal but it was ruled out as a Spanish player was in the box before the shot was struck. Alonso was to take the penalty again but this time the Paraguayan goalkeeper managed to block as the match was still going on as a goalless draw. In the 82nd minute, it was again the Barcelona man, David Villa, who managed to score a goal and won it for the Spaniards. The match ended 1-0 for the Spaniards as they qualified for the semi finals.
The Spanish team had to face the Germans in the semi finals who looked to be very tough as they had defeated the Argentineans and the English in the run to the semi finals. The final was then won by the Spaniards after an exciting match that was between the two great European sides; Netherlands and Spain.
After the great FIFA World Cup 2010 win, the Spanish defender Carlos Puyol came to Camp Nou to watch the young squad train. It was nice to see how he was still in a good mood and had a good chat with the new keeper coach Carles Busquets. Carlos Puyol is going to return to training on the 9th of August along with all other Spanish players and Barcelona are going to be back in business!
