Carlos Quentin might join San Diego Padres – MLB News
Since the 2011 Major League Baseball season has concluded with the World Series win of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago White Sox and their management started working on rebuilding of their current roster.
The Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams and his earlier statement that, “we're going to let the kids play, will know what they have in mid-season, young culture coming.” was a bit alarming and contradicted to the late in-house decisions by the
other top management of the White Sox who highlighted outfielder Carlos Quentin’s trade potential.
However, people did relate this statement with the very measures of White Sox management which were taken during the general manager’s annual meeting in Milwaukee and stated that Quentin’s trade is worth for the White Sox, who are currently facing some serious
financial problems. His trade will not only bring some cash into the franchise but at the same time the White Sox might sign a player or two for the next season with a low price tag.
On the other hand, as soon as Quentin’s trade rumours hit in the media, many teams started to pursue him. Among many MLB teams, some reports have confirmed now that San Diego Padres are taking interest in his trade and also trying to contact Quentin and
his agent personally.
Though, no official statement has come out in the media that Quentin and the Padres have any kind of contact but this is certain now that both sides somehow have great arrangements for their future.
For Quentin, who has a relatively good experience in the league, possesses extraordinary talent and can be very lethal for the Padres’ opponents.
The MLB offseason trade has brought many opportunities for the likes of Quentin. He is in his last year of contract with the White Sox but an early exit from the franchise means salary arbitration and additional money from the last year’s contract if he
leaves.
Some baseball experts also agree on the fact that the next few days will be very significant regarding Quentin’s trade to a new team but at the same time, the White Sox might offer Quentin something different to stay in the franchise at-least for another
year.
