Carlos Tevez targets Manchester derby return
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says he is aiming to be fit to face former club Manchester United in the Manchester derby.
Tevez has recently been in Argentina after being given permission to fly home and recover from a thigh injury. The striker is expected back at his club shortly despite warnings from Argentinean medical
staff that he shouldn't fly.
"I intend to be in the right condition for the derby against United.
I believe I am getting better and will take a fitness test in Buenos Aires
over the weekend and will assess the situation after that," said Tevez to
The Sun.
Manchester City will want the star striker back in sky blue colours as quickly as possible. He will add tremendous quality and pace to the team upon his return.
An important player
Tevez is a very important player to Manchester City for a variety of reasons. He is the club captain and everyone in football would agree that Tevez likes to set the example
for his teammates to follow.
Tevez is one of the few players at Manchester City that works just as hard off the ball as he does on the ball. This work ethic is something that has been missing from
the team and was exposed during the 3-0 Premier League defeat by Arsenal and the 2-1 defeat by Wolves.
The Argentine is a popular player with the Manchester City fans. It's no surprise that the majority of the club's support blame Tevez's absence for the recent dip in form.
The support will be a little louder on his return and this has the ability to inspire the whole club.
"I hear all the City news and have suffered because of those two defeats.
But the season is long and we will have chances to advance up the table," he added.
Betting advice
Tevez gives Manchester City a greater chance of winning football matches. He's also one of the most likely players in the club to score in any game. Back him regularly
to score the first goal of games and at any time during games.
