Carlos Tevez to be relieved of his captaincy duty at Manchester City
Reports from news sources, suggest that the Manchester City player, Carlos Tevez will not don the captain’s arm band in the clash between his team and Everton on Monday night. The manager of the team, Roberto Mancini held talks
with Tevez on Friday, concerning the Argentinean’s transfer request that he handed in last week, publicly stating his desire to not play any longer for the Eastlands club. Tevez had previously stated that he wanted to return to his home country and even hinted
at early retirement from football.
The result of the discussion held between Mancini and Tevez on Friday at the Carrington training ground is not clear, although the management at City have reinstated their desire to keep the striker at the club for as long as his
contract requires him to serve the Eastlands club. Tevez’s contract will expire in July 2014 and an official at Manchester City, namely Brian Marwood claimed that the club was “not thinking anything other than that (the three and a half years left on his contract)”.
Carlos Tevez’s written transfer request to the club cited one of the reasons as a collapse of relations between himself with “certain executives” at the club. He has further stated that the damage is irreparable, while Manchester
City officials have denied any such suggestion of a rift between themselves and the striker. Tevez was not one of the squad members who flew to Italy to take part in the team’s Europa League match against Juventus, a fixture which ended in a 1-1 draw. Mancini
chose to not play many of the team’s valuable players for the match, as Manchester City had already ensured progression to the next round of the competition, meaning that it will be the first time Tevez will star for his side in a match since handing in his
transfer request.
Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 spoke to the press ahead of tonight’s game with Everton in the Premier League. The Italian requested fans to not target Tevez, saying “The fans should continue to support a team like they have in other times,” and
instead called for the supporters and players to ignore the speculation surrounding the Argentinean and concentrate on the opposition. “It's important that we are focused on Everton and the supporters are focused on Everton.” Manchester City currently occupy
the third spot in the Barclays Premier League table, with thirty two points after playing seventeen games.
Carlos Tevez has played a major role in boosting City’s position to the third spot, and the Eastlands club’s stance in the transfer saga concerning their unwillingness to let the player go is understandable. The striker is one
of the main assets of Manchester City as the club’s top goal scorer, having netting home ten times this season. Mancini and other players in the Sky Blue squad do not doubt that Tevez will underperform for this fixture as they firmly believe in the Argentinean’s
professional approach to the game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pablo-Zabaleta-c29022, a Manchester City defender and fellow Argentinean spoke of his teammate’s attitude, saying that “No-one should question Carlos' attitude. His pride will not allow him to give less than 100 per cent in everything
he does. All the players feel the same that Carlos is one of us, and I think the fans love him as a player and as a man. He is their hero.”
The Iranian Kia Joorabchian is said to have advised Tevez to move away from the Eastlands club, although Joorabchian himself has given his stance publicly on the Tevez saga and restated that his advice to the striker was to stay
at Manchester City. The Iranian claims that one of the reasons for Tevez’s dissatisfaction at City was partly due to the squad’s inability to qualify for the Champions League competition this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 are expected to sport the captain’s armband for the Monday fixture, with Toure being tipped for keeping the captaincy on a permanent basis. Mark Hughes, the previous Manchester City manager had kept
Toure as captain but the band was given to Tevez this summer in an attempt by the club to hold on to the striker.
