Carlos Tevez to stay at Manchester City
Manchester City fans got their Christmas presents early this year as Carlos Tevez recently announced that he will remain at Eastlands; formally withdrawing his transfer request. Tevez had handed in the transfer request on the 11th of December
citing personal reasons for his decision. It was widely believed that Tevez missed his two daughters in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 and was desperate to go back to his home country. After days of speculation about the Argentinean’s future, the club recently confirmed that the
striker would stay at Manchester City. A statement on Manchester City’s official website said,
“Manchester City can confirm to its fans that ‘clear the air’ talks have been held with Carlos Tevez. During the meeting Carlos expressed his absolute commitment to the club and formally withdrew his transfer request.”
Many believed that the recent transfer request by Tevez was simply a ploy to get a more lucrative contract. However, in their statement, the club adds that the striker’s contract remains unchanged. It was not mentioned why Carlos Tevez had such a change
of heart, when it seemed as though a few days ago he was certain to leave Manchester City. Carlos Tevez had earlier stated that his relationship with certain club executives had broken down beyond repair.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was understandably pleased that his star striker would remain at Eastlands. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 knows that replacing the club’s top goal scorer in the middle of the season would have been an impossible task. It was reported that
Mancini was planning to strip Carlos Tevez of his captaincy. However, now that the Argentinean has committed himself to the City cause, he will continue to serve as their captain. Tevez has scored 10 goals for City so far, a contribution Mancini called ‘invaluable’.
Speaking on the striker’s decision to withdraw his transfer request, the Manchester City manager said,
‘I am pleased that we are now able to focus on pure football matters and to be able to look forward to Carlos continuing to play a significant role in the club's progress.’
