Carlos Zambrano the one to look out for in Miami Marlins during the regular season - MLB Update
Whether Carlos Zambrano will take Miami Marlins where they want him to take them, will be the biggest challenge for him ahead. With immense experience in the Major League, there is no denying the potential he has. His career ERA parallels with the best active
pitchers and his sinkers have been the most unplayable at times for batters.
When he was with Chicago Cubs, he was even perceived as a pitcher with ability to take the club to a possible World Championship victory.
While that did not happen, Marlins are hoping it will materialise now and Zambrano will replicate his tremendous career record in the season.
What Marlins are concerned about is his attitude at the mound. At-times he is reckless there and keeps giving walks uncontrollably. Once his is low on the count, he will lose the command and most probably will end up paying a heavy price.
In light of the fact, he has been on a downfall since the start of 2011 regular season, his worst season so far, Marlins concerns are likely to mount. Zambrano may have washed away all the apprehensions by transcending in Spring Training, but as it turned
out he still had some issues with command. The Marlins can go slow in relying too much on him.
However, since he is h**l-bent to restore his brilliance this year and working hard toward this aim, he can at anytime propel the club to new heights.
"I'm not anxious," he said. "I just want to do my job. Hopefully, we can talk at the end of the season. I just want to enjoy this game and start from there."
His exemplary friendship with Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen may help him stay aloof from temperamental issues and keep his focus on the play.
Against all odds, the manager is extremely confident of his incredible performance this year, believing that he has shown enough in the training and can lift the side during the season.
"He's been throwing the ball very good," Guillen said. "I expect him to have a good season. I always say, 'Whatever happened in the past, stays in the past.' This is a new year. He can open a new book. He's very happy here, and hopefully, it'll work for
him."
As he is part of the Marlins’ rotation, fans will be looking for how he fulfils the responsibility he has been thrust upon now.
