Carlota Ciganda eyes two accolades at Dubai
Spanish Carlota Ciganda has vowed to do her best at the upcoming Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012, but she has also set her sights on the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters is going to be held from December 5 to 8—under the patronage of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of the King of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The star-spangled event may be important for every LET (Ladies European Tour) contender confirmed to take part in it, but Ciganda is more concerned about it than any other star, as she is
hoping to win the Ladies European Tour’s Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year awards for the current year.
The Spanish golfer has already cemented her position as she currently leads the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, having won a whopping 232,656 euro.
So far, Ciganda has been satisfied with the way things are going in the final stage of the season, but she will have to keep a close eye on Caroline Masson of Germany who has pocketed 210,
831 euro up till now.
Speaking to the media about what she thinks will keep her in the headlines in the coming battle at Dubai, Ciganda said that she is very happy that she has consolidated her position in the
Order of Merits, but Masson is able to win the Player of the Year title.
She expressed her relief over the news that Masson will not be participating at the upcoming Hero Women’s Indian Open, saying she can capitalise on her archrivals’ absence.
The Hero Women’s Indian Open is scheduled for November 30th to December 2nd, at New Delhi, India.
However, the young gun was keen point out that any major slip-up in Dubai can take her away from the accolade, which she thinks can easily be grabbed with a strong finish.
Since Masson will be taking part at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, the competition is set to turn into a tough battle, with Ciganda seeking to cap off the season on a promising note.
“It would be nice to wrap up the season with a grand double, but still there is everything to play for. I am really looking forward to playing in Dubai,” said the Spanish star.
