Carlton House to take home the money in the Betfair Brigadier Gerard Stakes
Her Majesty’s Carlton House will have a chance to demonstrate his capabilities in the Betfair Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown on 31st May, 2012, where he will be mounted by jockey, Ryan Moore over the 1 mile, 2 furlong and
7 yard course.
The four-year-old colt, who is under the wing of Sir Michael Stoute, has delivered some outstanding races in his five starts, as he emerged triumphant in two of them.
It is reported that the trainer is immensely pleased with the performance of Carlton House as John Warren, the Queen’s racing manager, announced that:
"We're really pleased to have him back and Sir Michael is very happy with him. This is a good starting point for him over 10 furlongs and a good opportunity to learn something about his trip, which is important on his first start. It is a good place
to start and we will take it from there with him."
The bay colt raced as a favourite with a 5-2 chance in the Group 1 Investec Derby at Epsom on 4h June, 2011, but it seemed that luck abandoned him, as he finished in third place, ¾ of a length behind the runner-up, Treasure
Beach and 1 length behind winner, Pour Moi.
The young runner dominated the track at York, as he crushed the competition in the Group 2 Totesport Dante Stakes on 12th May, 2011, where he defeated race favourite, Seville, by 1 ½ lengths.
John Warren stated that nothing is planned and Sir Michael Stoute has many options open to him, he stated:
"Last year, Ryan Moore said he had tremendous speed and he won the Dante over 10 furlongs travelling well, but there's no reason not to keep all options open. Sir Michael is very happy with the way he's moving and he has shown a lot of patience to
get him back."
David Simcock’s, I’m A Dreamer, is the biggest competition the runner will face in this event, as she delivered a respectable performance in the Group 2 Betfred Middleton Stakes and finished in third at York on 17th May, 2012.
