Carlton WHY are they like they are?

There supporters seem oblivious to the Club managements continual rorts, and continually rag and bag supporters of other clubs for the their passion and preference for the team they desire to support ! At the same time Carlton with the largest number Of listed rejects from other Clubs, have "drafted " themselves to the bottom of the ladder with these players to gain special hand outs from the AFL. Do they not know how to nurture and develop players ? It just strikes me to follow Carlton you need to have no shame !

You can't totally blame the Carlton supporters, they have probably been barracking for the team going back through generations.

Carlton have not got a good history of choosing a president with football knowledge. The  types that have been at Carlton are political , drunk, silver spoon, or have big egos.

Another possible reason for Carltons' lack of form could be that the club is too close to Lygon Street with all that Pizza and pasta. Chris Judd is not going to save Carlton, only Pratt and their Coterie group.

Afraid nurturing is a thing of the past, with every man for himself.

deeds, it reminds me of the old Collingwood who had no shame in recruiting 'has-beens' in desperation.  Thankfully we learnt from our mistakes.

The Carlton supporters so easily fall into the gloating trap of reminding everyone how they are one of the most successful teams...blah blah that they have lost focus and just live in the past not in the future.

They need to move past the whole 'we have Juddy now' mentality and get on with making better use of their draft picks, revamping their club management and focusing on the long term prospects of the team.

IMO it stems back to the old VFL days when Carlton were one of the most financial clubs in the league. Then they would just buy players (from WA, SA & Tas) to win a premiership.

When the league introduced a salary cap & draft picks the club, under John Elliott, just thumbed their nose at the rules & carried on regardless. They were caught out on more than one occasion - Elliott was disgraced & sacked & Carlton were penalized by fines & loss of draft picks.

They went so long in buying ready made players to prop up their stocks they lost the art of developing youngsters like other clubs are doing.

dubya,i find it amusing how you accuse Carlton supporters of bagging other clubs when you are doing exactly that,mate what has your joke of a club done in the past 50 years 1 flag that's it,that's what i call successful ha ha,plus you've got big head Eddie as president,joffa as the queen of collingwood and the toothless army behind them-you must be so proud,when is collingwood going to nurture enough decent players to win another flag?? because for all your talk there is still no silverware going in the cupboard,collingwood are just the poor mans Carlton.CHEERS!!

if your in reference to the supporters, you have got to be kidding urself, we carlton supporters are oblivious to the going on of the management because we dont care about the back stabbing and the bitching behind the scenes we care about the football aspect. the footy aspect that has given us 16 premierships and a 17th soon.

From observation,over the  many years of the clubs'existence,some of the  Carlton players have been unethical in their approach to morality, and off field indiscretions.

This also means law breaking activities, and players getting big monies for their "marketed name" that they have built up, rather than their work ethic.

And no, Carlton don't know how to nurture and develop young players because the committee don't hire professional people who are trained in this area. Carlton  has been in existence for many years with players of yesteryear and hanger-ons that carry out these piddly jobs. Carlton can't rely on Pratt forever, as they don't know whats down the track.

Sorry, the only Carlton I know of, is the actor that plays on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I love that guy. ;-)
