Carly Booth: An attention grabber on and off course
The end of 2012 LET (Ladies European Tour) season put the spotlight on players known for unmatched skills—and Scottish Carly Booth is one of them.
Booth, a rising star who has proved her worth in the 2012 season, is ready to gain more exposure on the LET when she starts the next season.
Booth stands taller than most of her peers, not just because of a solid performance in some of the tournaments in the season, but also because of her work ethic and looks.
The LET titan took the fifth position on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, having racked up an eye-popping 164,020.44 euro.
The season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012 featured a fearsome field, but Booth’s presence dwarfed most of the contenders. Fans in Dubai were pleased to see the Scottish unveil her
best game once again.
It was not an impressive performance as the young gun posted an overall score of 289 to finish tied for the 50th position. But making a fiery start to the season was something that
helped her gain enough appreciation.
The Scottish golfer won two tournaments early in the season, showing her rivals that she was not going to give up without putting up a tough fight. She first won the Aberdeen Asset Management
Ladies Scottish Open after she shot a massive 212 on the leaderboard.
Her second triumph was recorded at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open. She battled her through to the top of leaderboard, registering a 276.
In addition to winning two events, Booth also recorded two top-ten finishes in the season.
Performance on the course is one thing that has kept the 20-year-old in the limelight, her good looks have also played their part in making her a golfing icon.
Booth believes that having attention-grabbing stature on the course has worked wonders for her game. During one of her recent interviews, she made no secret of her ambitions to lure more young
faces to the sport—and her looks will do the trick here.
Booth stressed that it is very important “how we dress”.
Women’s golf may feature attention grabbers like Suzann Pettersen of Norway and Natalie Gulbis of the United States, but Booth does seem to pull the crowd much better than most of the other
female stars do.
“I make an effort to look nice. Match your shoes with your earrings, something like that. You dress nice, you putt nice. It all helps to make it more appealing. It might help to get more younger
girls involved in the game, too,” said Booth.
