Carly Booth falters in season-ending battle
Scottish Carly Booth, who is one of the rising stars on the LET (Ladies European Tour), failed to pull off an impressive show at the season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012.
Booth got off to a sluggish start at the four-day tournament, held at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai, posting a 78 in the first round. The Scottish star, who was regarded as one of the strongest
contenders for the tournament, made several mistakes on the greens—and her swing also looked in bad shape.
The first round was marred with flaws and poor strokes. The LET titan started the round on Wednesday with a bogey on the first hole. She then parred the next two holes and carded a double
bogey on the difficult par-3 fourth hole.
Further denting her confidence, Booth shot two back-to-back bogeys on the 5th and 6th hole.
On the back nine, the struggling Scott tried to regain her momentum, but all she could pull off was two birdies. Shooting the birdies did not do much to boost her score as she offset it by
carding another two bogeys on the 11th and 15th.
Booth made an attempt to bounce back in the second round that saw her shoot a 67. This time, her shots were almost-perfect, giving a glimpse of how stunning she has been all season.
She opened the second day with three birdies in a row.
Despite putting herself back on track on the second day, Booth could not maintain her fiery form in the last two rounds as she posted a 72 each in the third and fourth round.
Booth has performed exceptionally well in some of the tournaments this year, putting together a solid resume.
Apart from a performance slump in Dubai, Booth displayed a magical performance in most of the tournaments in the 2012 LET season.
She won titles at Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open and Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open.
Chinese Shanshan Feng won the season-ending battle by five strokes as she registered an overall 267.
“I didn't look at the board until maybe the 18th green.  So I didn't know what was going on,” Feng said of her last round’s performance while speaking to the media at the end of the tournament.
