Carly Booth happy to play along with big names at Archerfield
Carly Booth may not be as strong a contender as Catriona Matthew in the field of Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, but she is determined to prove her worth in the prestigious event.
Turning professional two years ago, Booth is going to experience a strong field that features several professional and non-professional players.
The Ladies European Tour event is important for Booth, as she can have a chance to play among celebrities like Kiwi dancer Brendan Cole and former English cricketer Darren Gough.
Booth’s amateur career was filled with plenty of achievements. Speaking to the media about her plans for the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, the rising star said that she is confident to play among big names, and will try to take an early
lead.
Booth spent some time with Brendan Cole and Lynn Kenny before the event. Analysts said that the tournament is going be quite interesting, and this is what is keeping players hyped up.
She said that she gained enough experience from her amateur career, which will definitely help her in her pro journey.
Recounting how she had been playing as an amateur player, Booth said that she was a star performer then, but professional career is quite different, as it is fraught with multiple challenges.
“I wouldn’t say it was easier as an amateur but I won a lot then and was on a high,” she said.
She went on to say that professional golf is proving quite challenging for her, but she is firm to prove her worth.
“When you turn pro, you start at the bottom again and have to work your way up. It takes different players different periods of time to establish themselves,” added the Scottish star.
Booth was keen to point out that she had been able to fix lapses in her swing style and putting. She said that thanks to rigorous training on the practice range, she is now more confident than ever before.
“I’ve learned a lot over the past couple of years and feel I am now getting to grips with Tour life, which maybe wasn’t quite what I was expecting when I turned professional”.
