Carly Booth in the headlines – an unstoppable rising star
Carly Booth, the Scottish golfing star has quite a reputation in professional golf circles. Her outstanding performance in 2012 has astonished everyone. The year is still young and Booth is excited about the events she is scheduled to appear in later this
year.
Carly Booth already has an impressive record as an amateur player. She started playing at the age of 12.
Ladies Scottish Open was her first professional event, which she finished on the 13th position. She was 14 at the time.
The greatest moment of her amateur career came in 2008, when she became the youngest player to represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup. This came after her being ranked as Europe’s No. 1 junior in 2007.
Her performance in amateur tournaments raised everyone’s expectation about her professional career. Booth was already a top performer in many tournaments and analysts were confident that she would do just as well in her professional career.
Carly Booth was very positive about the whole process herself. Commenting on the pressure, she said, “I liked it. I liked having the challenge. I think with my family being very competitive with sports, there was always that bit of competition between us
and it gave me that drive”.
She turned professional in 2009. She joined the Ladies European Tour and debuted in Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco. She worked hard and got the reward in 2012, when she won two titles, which included an LET event win.
The transition from amateur to professional has not been easy on the nineteen-year-old. Commenting on this, she said, "It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, the whole tour life. The standard is just four times as good, it's definitely a
lot to take in but I'm on the right track".
Booth had been a pro for two years before fortune smiled at her. She won her first event in May 2012. Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open 2012 was a tough tournament for Booth.
However, she managed a narrow victory of just one stroke over players such as Frances Bondad and Florentyna Parker.
Her next win came in Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open. She won in the playoff with a score of 276. This was her second title in six weeks.
She was very happy about the win and said, “I'm overwhelmed; speechless. I'm lost for words; so happy".
Booth is very confident about her prospects in pro golf. Although she thinks that balancing the busy tour schedule can be hectic and a bit of a grid, she is nonetheless happy about being the rising superstar of the LET circuit.
Much is expected from Carly Booth as she plans to play in the upcoming tournaments. Her streak of wins may not continue but her game is sure to thrill the fans all over the world.
