Carly Booth remains jittery in second round of Indian Open
Scottish Carly Booth continued to show a jittery performance in the second round of Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012 as she posted a 72.
Booth is among the strongest contenders at the Ladies European Tour (LET) tournament, being played at DLF Golf & Country Club, New Delhi, India, but she made a grim start that saw her shoot
a 76 in the first round on Friday.
It was the scene of disappointment as Booth had to settle for the 47th position on Friday, which was something she did not plan to do. However, on the second day, she managed to
improve her leaderboard position a little.
She is currently standing at the 37th position.
Commentators said that the Scottish golfer could have improved her position and surged past most of her rivals in the second round, but she missed several good chances on easier holes, messing
up her position.
Starting the round on the back nine, the rising star shot a birdie on the 11th hole, but carded two bogeys. On the front nine, she registered two straight birdies and one bogey.
First-round leader Becky Brewerton also faltered in the second round, as she could not maintain her position. However, shooting a 69 in the first round gave her confidence.
“I started off pretty average, parred the first few and then I eagled six, the par five, got on in two and made quite a long putt there, so obviously that kicked me on a bit,” said the Welsh
star.
Now with just one round to go, Booth appears to be in trouble as other contenders posted big scores on Saturday to further boost their positions on the leaderboard.
The LET titan is one of the most talented golfers from Europe as she racked up two titles in the 2012 season. She was expected to carry on with her fiery form in the last two tournaments of
the season.
If Booth fails to pull off a big show on Sunday, she still has one more chance to prove her mettle in the concluding season that is set to culminate at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012,
which is scheduled to kick off next week in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
