Question:

Carmax return after 5 days?

I purchased a GTI at carmax on 6/20. After 5 days I started having problems with the car.

A front controll arm almost fell off the car... 2 of 3 bolts were gone. Apparently they missed that in inspection.

Now the car is at VW getting a whole new electrical system... $2200 carmax is paying....

Feel like I bought a lemon!

  1. No, unfortunately unless CarMax has their own policy, there is no "buyer's remorse" or "cooling-off" period in car sales. Once you sign paperwork and take delivery, it's yours.

If CarMax is willing to pony up the dough to fix the car, feel lucky. Are they giving you a loaner to use while the VW is in the shop?

*NOTE* - people throw out the "Lemon" word too often. Most folks have no idea what it takes for a car to be qualified as a "Lemon" under the law. Two issues on a used car does not qualify it as a lemon.
