Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler happy with Jason Kidd’s addition to New York Knicks – NBA Update
There have been several key moves happening in this year`s free agency and one team that does not want to be left behind are the New York Knicks. The Big Apple franchise has recently added veteran point guard Jason Kidd to their ranks for next season.
Following up to the signing of Kidd, players from New York including a certain All-Star forward, Carmelo Anthony were very excited about his arrival.
Reflecting on the arrival of Kidd, Anthony has vowed to score more during the coming season and feels that everyone of the Knicks player including himself can benefit from Kidd`s presence on the floor.
“He is a guy who can get everybody involved,” Anthony said. “I don’t have to do too much ball-handling. Right now, my mind-set is to start working off the ball a lot more.”
Another one of Knicks player who is well aware of what the benefits would be of having the veteran presence like Kidd on the floor is Tyson Chandler who feels that with his experience, the team can make the most of their scoring opportunities.
“You can throw his age out the window because not only is he capable of doing great things on the basketball court, but he is invaluable off it,”
Both Anthony and Chandler are currently taking part in team USA`s training camp in Las Vegas for the Olympics and can get an early heads-up of how things are going to be next season.
They have a chance to get acquainted to playing alongside a player of Kidd’s calibre as the American contingent already has several exciting point guards like Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook present among the selectees.
The decision from Kidd to head over to the Big Apple is largely debatable and nobody present in the basketball circle would have anticipated his arrival in New York. The most possible destination for the future hall of famer was anticipated to be Brooklyn Nets if he did not return to Dallas Mavericks.
However when the announcement came through from Kidd, it would have left everyone surprised with his decision. Kidd believes that his decision may have been directly influenced by the amount of work needed to be done with the Knicks and he feels that he can help them out in their cause.
“I looked at the roster and I felt I could go quietly and retire, or I felt like I can compete and help a team win,” Kidd said. “So I saw the pieces of the Knicks, and I thought that I could help them out.”
