Carmelo Anthony had a knee surgery in summer – NBA Update
New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony confirmed recently that his knee was operated upon during the summer.
Anthony has had trouble with his left knee and elbow for years and went through the scissors in May. He was speaking to reporters after a charity game in Philadelphia, which his team (Team Melo) lost despite of having stars like
LeBron James and Chris Paul.
"Can't tell, can you?" Anthony said, confirming the surgery to the New York Post.
He went on to reveal that it was a longstanding issue and he was happy to finally have it sorted out.
"I did both of them," he added. "They were bothering me seven years."
The exciting forward has been back on the court since August, playing in a host of exhibition games throughout the United States. He has also been working out in the gym consistently and feels that his body is in good shape.
The star player has actually gotten fitter than he was during the season. At the Philadelphia game, he weighed in at 230 pounds, four pounds less than what he weighed during the season. He revealed he was happy with his progress
and would start some real work in the coming weeks.
"I would be coming back at training camp, if there is one, less than I left last year," Anthony said, according to the newspaper. " I feel good mentally and physically. My mindset is about starting next week. That's where my mindset
is at and body is at. Games are fun for charity, but at the same time we want to get something out of it."
Carmelo was a shining light for the New York Knicks in last season’s playoffs when they went out in the first round to the battle hardened Boston Celtics. The Knicks were weakened by injuries to Amare’ Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups
and eventually lost 4 – 0, but Carmelo was a thorn in Boston’s side throughout the series.
His displays gave heart to the Big Apple faithful, after the franchise had dished out big money and a host of its role players to acquire him in a blockbuster trade from the Denver Nuggets in the midseason.
