Carmelo Anthony optimistic about the Denver Nuggets this season
The waiting game for Carmelo Anthony is still around the corner, but lately, the superstar forward is not taking a serious look at all the possibilities.
Humbled by the attention that interested teams have shown in him, the all-star forward has been surrounded with different of trade speculation since the off-season. But Anthony declared
that he is “happy” with the Nuggets this season, although they have dropped their last two games.
“I'm in a good state right now,” said Anthony, who is averaging 24.1 points and 7.4 rebounds this season. “We're winning. I am happy. And everybody else on the team is happy.”
The 26-year-old forward, who can opt out of his contract next summer after declining to sign an extension during the off-season, said that he’ll always be focused because he’s a competitor
and he hates losing games.
“I want the team to do well. That's why I do what I got to do and get everybody on the same page so we can win games. I think my attitude would be very different if I was here and we were
0-6 right now, but I can't really speak on that because we're not.”
Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl is also impressed with his superstar forward's hard work, despite all the talks about the uncertainty of his stint with the Nuggets. According to Karl,
Anthony is working even harder than in the previous years, and it was obvious during their training camp.
“He's been great,” said Karl, who also added that he has not talk with Anthony regarding the rumours. “I only deal with him basically about basketball. He had a great camp. He has worked
hard.”
Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets, who have a 4-4 record in their first eight games this season, will try to snap their two-game skid in their much-anticipated showdown with the undefeated
Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, 11 November.
