Carmelo Anthony scores 1; New York Knicks thump Charlotte Bobcats – NBA Recap
Carmelo Anthony is having one big shooting nightmare off late.
The small forward, who is known to thrive on his shooting prowess, came into Tuesday night’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats shooting just 33 percent in his last four outings.
And on the night, it got even worse.
The Knicks superstar missed all seven of his field goal attempts and managed only a technical free throw in the third quarter to round up the game with 1 point, the lowest ever total in his career and the second single figure score
in his last 42 games.
However, the New York Knicks still won and they did it with some distance.
Tyson Chandler erupted with 20 points on a 9 of 10 shooting from the floor and also grabbed a game - high 17 rebounds to facilitate a 111-78 over the hapless and under sized Bobcats, who have now fallen to 3-15 in the season. Amare
Stoudemire and Landry Fields also had a good night out with 18 points apiece while Jared Jeffries had 11 off the bench. Every Knick scored on the night to mount an effort that saw them pound the Bobcats on the paint.
The Knicks out rebounded the Cats 53-33 and thumped them 46-20 in the points in the paint.
The Bobcats, playing with D.J. Augustin and D.J. White, took the court depending solely on their rookie Kemba Walker. The young gun did deliver with a team high 22 points but didn’t find enough support, except some on the wings.
"We didn't come out ready to play," Charlotte center Byron Mullens, who scored only six points in the game said. "I mean Carmelo scores one point and we still get beat by 33? That's uncalled for. It makes us look bad. I know we're
a young team but there aren't any excuses for getting beat by 33 and their main player scoring one point."
Despite Trailing by 8 points to start the game, the Bobcats kept the Knicks in check in the first quarter, but after taking a 28-26 lead on a Walker three early in the second frame, the wheels started to come off. The Knicks first
reeled off a 9-0 run and after the Bobcats pulled within 4 deep, they launched a 10 point unanswered spurt to jump to a 52-40 lead, which was slashed to 52-42 at the break.
The Knicks had the better of the Bobcats in the third as well, but delivered the killer blow in the fourth, outscoring the hosts 38-21 enroute to a 33 points romp.
