Carmelo Anthony to join international tennis stars at Arthur Ashes Kids’ Day: NBA Update
NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony will join many international tennis stars on 27th August in an annual event of Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day at the 20111 US Open.  Top celebrities from Hollywood and sports world will be attending
this year’s Arthur Ashes Kid’s Day to commemorate Arthur Ashes’ great legacy.
Arthur Ashes will be remembered as one of the all time greats in tennis. He was the only African American tennis player who achieved extra ordinary achievements in his professional career. He won three grand slams and is remembered
as one of the best African American tennis star ever played in the world.
This will be the first appearance of Carmelo Anthony in Arthur Ashes annual event. Anthony stated in the media that he is very happy and excited to see himself ahead in the US Open where he will be also honouring this great legend
who once ruled the tennis world.
Anthony, along with current US Open Champions, Rafael Nadal and Kim Clijsters , and 2011 Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic will be witnessing the event. The former U.S. Open Champion Andy Roddick and Hollywood superstar Bradley
Cooper will also be attending the event, which will take place at the eve of 2011 US grand slam.  
The New York Knicks’ star has always been very active for such kind of events in the past. Carmelo, who started his professional basketball career in 2003, knows about the hardship of playing consistently first hand. He appreciated
Arthur Ashes’ talent with great words and honoured his legacy.
Carmelo also expressed his excitement on meeting so many tennis superstars. The 27 year-old has been spending much time in his native city, New York during the lockout. Carmelo Anthony has played eight seasons in the league.
 His career average of 24.8 points per game in these years speaks for itself.  He has played total 591 games so far after making his NBA debut in 2003, when the Denver Nuggets selected him with overall 3rd pick in the
first round. He played almost eight seasons with the Nuggets and eventually traded to the New York Knicks amidst much hype in February this year.
