Carmelo Anthony to make a comeback in Jeremy Lin's New York Knicks soon - NBA Update
New York Knicks got off to a disappointing start in the 2011-12 NBA season and their below par performance had ignited the talks about changing of the head coach Mike D Antoni and role of few players in the team.
However, after how the team performed throughout the last week, all that criticism has died down all of a sudden.
Knicks won five consecutive games and that too in the absence of their star players Amar’e Stoudemire, who spent the week at home after his brother died in a car accident, and Carmelo Anthony, who missed has missed four games due
to right groin injury.
One man responsible for all this is none other than the emerging superstar Jeremy Lin, who was simply outstanding and also won the Eastern Conference player of the week. With his heroics in the last few games, he has single handedly
taken Knicks to a different level.
Now with Lin in supreme form and Amar’e back, the question that arises is where does Carmelo fit in the team?
He has nearly recovered from the groin injury has been taking part in practice sessions. In an interview Carmelo has indicated that he is extremely happy for Lin and the team’s phenomenal run last week. When asked to shed light
on where he fits in the team now, his reply was simple.
"When I get back Jeremy will have the ball in his hands and I'm playing off of that,"I know there's questions about, 'Can I fit in?' and stuff like that, but this is like a dream come true to me," Anthony said.
"It takes some pressure off of me. I don't have to play point guard. I don't have to try to get Amare 20 points, try to get this guy 20 points, me try to go out there and get 25-30 points a night, play defense, rebound do the whole
thing."
Anthony admitted that Lin would be controlling the offense even in Anthony’s presence, further adding that he would play more as a facilitator than a playmaker.
First few of the Anthony’s comeback games would be highly interesting. Both Lin and Anthony have not played alongside too often and it will take them a while to understand each other’s game. But whatever happens, the Knicks need
not to worry and instead they should try to continue with their momentum.
