  1. We cruised with them last September, and it was an awesome experience.  Not only was it extremely inexpensive, $200 per person, but they were very gracious and courteous.  I loved it.

My one tip is to bring an extension cord and a hair dryer.

  2. The overall quality / cruise experience is similar with all the major cruise lines.  They all have some minor differences, however the demographics and over all quality will be similar.  The fairest way to compare quality would be to compare by ship classes and not by cruise lines.  For example. if you are going to compare RCCL to Carnival, it would be fair to compare the newer ships from each line to each other and not compare something like the CCL Holiday to the RCCL Vision.  As others have mentioned, cruising during summer will mean alot more families and kids.  If you are ok with that, then go for it.  If you aren't bringing kids and want a cruise that is a bit quieter, I would wait till sep when the prices drop.

  3. Carnival Cruise Line is known as the Fun Ship because it is fun. I been on Carnival many times. If you are just a type of relaxing only person, then this cruise line is not ideal.

Cruising in august is hurricane season!

  4. Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then "Roll Call", then on your line/ship.  You will have to "join" to access that board, but it's free.

Carnival is "good", depending on what you're looking for.  In August, it will be full of kids, and it is also hurricane season, although we have cruised several times in hurricane season and never had problems.  [We even got two free extra days at sea while we avoided a hurricane!  We wouldn't even have known there was a hurricane if the Captain hadn't announced it.]

  5. I myself love carnival after all they are the fun ship.  We went on one last october, have one coming this august, and then one already scheduled for august of 09.  The one thing that I can tell you is that everyday they have a list of things that go on for the day, like newly wed game etc, the thing that we do is figure out what we know we dont want to miss then kind of plan everything else around that.  The service is also wonderful, they have assigned eating times and tables which I love because the wait staff really gets to know you and what you like, for instance they would automatically get our drinks ready for us, and would bring me two melting cakes for dessert.  "This is a must try, they are out of this world."  There will be a lot of kids typically because they do a lot for families, but they are usually pretty occupied with camp carnival, the pool, or playing games, plus to me it really adds to the experience seeing people so excited to be there as well.  Also research the shore excursions a lot of times you can find better things to do on shore for a lot cheaper just be careful and stay with some sort of group, and make sure you get back to the ship on time, if not they will not wait.  Other than that sit back relax and have a drink or two.  Hope this helps.
