Question:

Carnival Cruise Line Dress Code?

I'm going on a 7-night cruise on the Carnival Victory in about a week, and I was wondering what to wear for the casual nights. I already know about the two "formal" nights, and I already have two dresses planned. But for the other 5 nights, are jeans okay? I'm only fifteen, so I don't have alot of dressy stuff. I've heard that it's supposed to be "resort casual", etc. But I just wanted to make sure. I'm talking about the regular dining room.

  1. The following is from Carnival's web site ...

Is there a dress code for the dining room?

Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo (optional); suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner.

To answer your question directly, yes, jeans can be worn in the dining room for dinner.

This is from a different web site ...

Carnival - jeans are ok but not encouraged

  2. Jeans are not ok even for the casual nights.  I would describe the casual attire as Sunday church type wear (skirt and shirt, sundress, khaki's with nice blouse..).  On formal night most women wear cocktail dresses and I noticed that many teen girls seem to wear their prom/homecoming dresses.

  3. I have worn dress jeans with a very nice top, capris , skirts, khakis. You cant wear shorts. They recommend smart casual and on the 7 i have been on seen everything from jogging suits and tshirts to business casual. If you can wear it to church youre good to go

  4. First of all why would anyone want to go on CARNIVAL. They Suck. You can wear a circus costume if you want.

    CARNIVAL SUCKS

  5. Hey!  I'm 15 too and I just got off of a Princess cruise yesterday morning, but I have also been on 4 Carnival, 1 Royal Caribbean, and 1 Disney.  The last Carnival one I went on was when I was 14 last spring break.  I wore jeans a couple of times in the dining room (just on Carnival), and didn't feel overdressed or underdressed at all.  People on Carnival are much more casually dressed than the people on Princess.  I wore skinny dark blue jeans with nice baby doll tops and stuff like that.  For shoes I think I wore wedges, but only because I felt like it.  I think even flip flops would have been alright.  Jeans are totally fine for Carnival for a 15 year old girl, as long as they aren't the big flared and ripped up kind.  Don't wear them with tank tops though, because those, along with shorts, are not allowed in the regular dining room.  Sun dresses are also great to wear in the dining room.

  6. let me just start im never ever going to go on a dang cruise if i have to get all dressed up... carharts and levi jeans... and white t shirts or t-shirt with red neck jokes and a chevy hat..

i would personally wear like a skirt or something if i was a girl...

  7. Well that's just dumb.. why would someone want to go on a vacation with a dress code.  LAME

  8. I have been on many cruises, and while you will see a few people with jeans on in the dining rooms, they look misplaced and underdressed.

I strongly suggest that you NOT wear jeans.  Sun dresses, skirts, and dress pants work best for the "smart casual" evenings.  Think about what you would wear to a dressy/fancy restaurant at home.

    Hope this helps...  :)

  9. I wouldn't wear jeans to dinner unless you are planning on dining at the buffet. I usually like to wear a skirt and top (nothing to dressy) or even a pair of nice gauchos with wedges and a cute top. A sun dress will also work.  Jeans will more than likely look out of place.
