My boyfriend has a misdeameanor warrant for missing a court appearance for a unpaid traffic ticket. Upon boarding the boat do customs or carnival cruise do a check similar to how the police can check outstanding warrants. We cruise in 2 weeks and we just want to wait until we get back to get this matter taken care of.

  1. I would try and take care of this issue before you go or your b/f could be arrested at the port and extradited out to the place he has his warrant then your cruise is lost, money and all.

  2. I'd say yes.. Why not pay the fine and get it over with? It sounds like more of a serious problem!

  3. to be honest i dont think it will be an issue until you return from the cruise. i  think it also depends on the port. when i cruised from california (port of los angelas) they actually scanned licnses/passport randomly (we came back from mexico) when i cruised from flordia a few times they just checked my id. if  you have a warrent you will go to jail it doesnt matter what the warrent is for. this also might be differnt depending on what state you are. but if you have a warrent your id is flagged, in fact if you are flying they will flag it then and he could be arrested at the airport. i would just have him turn himself in and pay the fine

  4. OMG!  You are taking a HUGE chance.  Is he going to lie if they ask him certain questions?  Lying to a customs official is going to get him in more trouble then the parking tickets.  His Driver's License and his Passport are probably flagged.  He is going to leave the country with a warrant out for his arrest.  That is a serious issue.  If it is just unpaid parking tickets, why not take care of it before you go?

  5. The guest list is sent to Homeland Security.  If there is a problem they will find it.

I worked pier side for several cruise ships and I have seen people taken to jail on their return for parking violations and unpaid child support.

Maybe he can settle his problem before he cruises.
