Im going on a 8 day carnival cruise to mexico (Acapulco,

Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, and Manzanillo,) I plan to buy some of the jewelry and collectible type things i dont have to worry about the casino/ alcohol/ or any of that stuff because i am 16 but how much money should i bring for things like jewelery and things like that. (This is a birthday present so not including the shore excursions.) I was considering bringing about 500-700 canadian but i dont know if it will be enough or if it will be too much. Any information will be helpful :)

  1. Depending on what you really want to buy that should be plenty.  The merchants will take pesos or American dollars (typically at a 10p / $1 exchange).    If you are traveling with some adults, consider getting a taxi and asking for the 'mercado central' for some real shopping.  There will be plenty of "stuff" for sale near the cruise terminals, but the prices will be higher and alot of the items will not be truly authentic.  There will be some shore excursions to shopping areas as well where the items will be a better quality and more authentic.
