  1. Here are the expected salaries of the purser grade and the qualities needed for the job. Not from Carnival but will give you an idea of the salary.

    "Cruise Ship Administration Purser

    Responsible for ensuring that all Immigration and Customs regulations are followed and that all documentation required by various PortAuthorities/Agencies is in proper order.

    Coordinating the ship clearance in the various ports of call. Participates in the embarkation process by collecting immigration documentation to determine validity of documents and refers unusual documentation to Hotel Director and/orPort Agent for final approval or denial.

    Meets ports agents and customs and immigration officials at the gangway at all ports to deliver documentation to clear the cruise ship and maintains a professional working relationship with port agents and customs andi mmigration officials.

    Maintains current working knowledge of customs and immigration regulations and procedures

    Must be able to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly.

    Salary range: $4,200 - $5,500 US per month (Approx: £2,100 - £2,700)

    Cruise Ship Assistant Purser

    The Assistant Purser (Junior Officer) represents cruise line policies and procedures and is a key “front line” contact for the passengers on board the cruise ships. Similar to duties at the front desk of a fine hotel, they provide guest services, information, exchanges traveller’s checks and foreign currency, posts mail, provides safety deposit box service. Provides banking services for passengers, assists with resolving guest complaints and any additional duties that may be assigned by the Chief Purser. Responsible for assisting the CFM Administrator with the Sign-ON/OFF process in the property management system and reconciles the active CFM list to ensure that it is accurate.

    Assists with general office work and clerical duties. Performs bank duties on a regular basis and is responsible for the “bank” cash float and balancing of the float on a daily basis.

    Must be able to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly to do this job.

    Salary range: $2,400 – $2,800 US per month (Approx: £1,200 - £1,400) per month.

    Cruise Ship Junior Assistant Purser

    (Receptionist) - previous hotel experience and/or good administrative background. Fluent English Language skills required and speaking other languages is a plus for this job.

    Salary range: $1,600 – $2,200 US per month (Approx: £800 - £1,100) per month.

    Cruise Ship Crew purser

    Handles the administration of the crew: sign-on and sign-off, cabin assignments, crew identification cards etc – Excellent administration background essential. Accounting background helpful. Fluent English Language skills required for this job.

    Salary range: $2,800 – $3,200 US per month (Approx: £1,400 - £1,600) per month.

    THE ABOVE SALARIES ARE AVERAGE SALARIES. IN ADDITION YOUR FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION IS INCLUDED AND YOUR SALARY IS NORMALLY TAX FREE IF YOUR CONTRACT IS FOR SIX MONTHS AND OVER. THESE CONTRACTS ARE RENEWABLE."
