I am trying to decide between the two for a Bahama or Carribean vacation, which cruise line would you suggest and why?

Thanks!

  1. In my experience, Princess is a higher class of a cruise.  It's more elegant with better service and more attention to fine detail in food, service, etc.  It's also usually much more expensive.  The crowd tends to be an older crowd with fewer families.  There is less to do in the way of entertainment or activities and many passengers go to bed around 9:30pm.

Carnival is cheaper and many travel agents would say if you've done a Princess Cruise, going on Carnival is a huge step down.  On the flip side though, there tends to be a lot more going on, better entertainment, and more of an evening crown on Carnival.  Carnival shore excursions are notoriously expensive, but you can/should get around that by booking your own anyway.

I think you need to consider how important cost is to you (if this is huge, go with carnival), and who you want to travel with.

I recommend checking out www.tripadvisor.com and www.cruisecritic.com for more info.

    Enjoy your trip.

  2. Well, first you should know that Carnival Corp owns both Carnival Cruise Lines and Princess Cruises.

If you are active and like lots of activities, then go with Carnival.  If you don't want to share your vacation with lots of kids, and prefer a little more refined atmosphere and a little less GO, GO GO, then go with Princess.

Basically you will find Carnival's passengers are younger and more active than the Princess passengers.  So if I was trying to choose between Carnival and Princess, I would choose based on the kind of passengers I want to share my vacation with.

  3. Actually one company owns Carnival, Princess, The Yachts of Seabourn, Holland America, Costa and the Cunard line but, besides that everyone likes different things, To some the ship is just a means of getting to point a & b etc. the ports are more important others the ship. You have to decide it is your money, time & vacation. All lines try their best to have things of interest for groups of all ages. Just pick & Enjoy your cruise.

  4. Well, I just got off an Alaskan cruise with pincess last August. I have a family who's been on Carnival and they say it's great. I think that Carnival has lots of kids and is crazy active. Princess has elegant ships and great service, excellent and food and it is relaxing.

    I say Princess~

  5. Depends on your age.  If you are young, single, a party person, or just someone who likes constant action, go with Carnival.  If you like quieter, more subdued vacations without all the craziness of the party animals, Princess is better out of the two.
