O.k. so i am goin g on the carnival conquest on sunday! yes i am soo excited! Well there are 2 couples staying in one room, i wondered how we would be sleeping, the pictures show 2 twin bed in the room, would 2 of us have to each sleep on a twin bed? Our room is a stateroom with a balcony, it is like a basic room but with a balcony, also if anyone has gone on this do you have any excursions to suggest?

  1. The room will be tight with that many people.  However, there are twin beds that drop down from the celing in many cabins, and the beds can be pushed together and make a king size bed.  I don't think that any 2 people are going to have to share a twin size bed.  Carnival is more convienent than that.

  2. How did you arrange for 4 people to share one cabin?

The only cabins I have ever seen of that type are the "family" cabins, and the suites.  You need to check your reservation.  A standard room with a balcony will be VERY crowded.

Also regarding excursions -- buy them ashore  NOT from Carnival, you will save HUNDREDS of dollars and see the same things.

Have fun, keep an eye on your sail-and-sign account, don't want any HUGE surprises on your bill.

11 cruises down, #12 this August on Conquest

  3. They have bunk beds that pull down from the ceiling at night. When the stewards make your room up at night they will bring the beds down. I have done it with 4 people in the room and it can be tight, especially when trying to get ready. Stagger shower times and you should be fine. Remember you'll be spending alot of time on the ship and not the room.

  4. 4 people in one room is going to be INCREDIBLY tight. You will definitely be sharing 2 twin beds which will make for some cozy sleeping. I hope you really like each other!

    Have a great trip!

  5. Just an extra tip with 4 people in the room:  When you are trying to get ready, especially on formal nights, remember you can shower/change in the bathrooms up in the gym.  From what I have heard, many men go to the gym to get ready on formal nights, since women tend to hog the bathroom.

(We don't all hog the bathroom, by the way!  lol)

Also, 4 in a room (especially adults) will be very tight!  It can be done, however, there is not much difference in price between staying 4 in one room versus 2 people in each of 2 rooms.  (At least that is the case with with inside and ocean view rooms.  However, there may be a significant difference in balcony prices.)  I wonder if you would be able to downgrade/change from 1 balcony room to 2 ajoining ocean view rooms.  Being that this is a 7 night cruise, you may want the extra room.

  6. We took the Conquest in March and had a balcony room.

There was a double bed, the couch converted to a twin bed and the other twin bed is a Pullman bed that comes down from the ceiling.   One couple will sleep together and the other will be separated.

Recommend you take a power strip as there is only one power outlet in the room.  Get one of those XXXL Ziploc bags to store wet, yucky clothes.

She is a very nice ship.  Make sure you get to the cruise terminal with plenty of time to board.  Port of Galveston is a drag to park.

Make sure you hang on to your carry on luggage as the porters like move quickly.

We really enjoyed the Cavern by Jeep tour in Cozumel this year.  You take the ferry to Playa del Carmen and drive a jeep to an underground cavern where you get to swim.  This is unique because they won't even let you touch the water in underground rivers in the US.  The dolphin experience is fun and I liked the submarine ride but my kids did not.

Take one of the stingray excursions in Grand Caymans but skip the one that includes the Turtle Farm and h**l.  h**l is just a convenience store that sells t-shirts that say "I have been to h**l" for $36.00.  You have to tender in Grand Caymans and it is a pain.

Don't waste your money on horseback riding in Jamacia.  Find something else to do.

Do your shopping in Cozumel.  They will barter with you.

Take plenty of $1, 5, and 10 in US dollars to shop in the open air markets.  Avoid  the malls; they are high priced and won't bargain with you.

Take a canvas bag along to carry your stuff on shore excursions or to bring back your shopping loot.

Mark your luggage handles with brighly colored yarn or ribbon for de-barkation.  There is a sea of luggage and it will help you find yours..Amazing how many people have black luggage.  Also...get a porter when you de-bark.  They will expedite you through customs.  Tip about $1.00 per bag.

  7. you can move the twins together and make it a queen.. not all the rooms have that.. but our balcony room did .

carnival crusies rock!! your guna have a blast..
