Half of our group has been on a ton of cruises, myself and my half of the family has not. I have no idea what to expect. I have really high hopes that this ship is nice.

  1. It's a nice ship but if you're expecting complete luxury you won't get it on a Carnival Cruise.  I love Carnival because they have excellent prices, but they are considered a discount cruise line.

  2. I have sailed on the valor twice and am going again in may. It is a great ship, they just dry docked it and added a seaside theater. You will like this ship it is big, and has lots of things to do for kids of all ages.

Hope this helps, you can also look for more info at this great yahoo group.

  3. I have not been on the Valor but it is a Conquest class ship and I have been on the Carnival Conquest so they should be similar. Let me assure you that you will have a fabulous time. First the ship is quite large but don't be intimidated. After a day or so you will be easily able to find your way around. The pools are in the back of the ship on the Lido deck and the shop, restaurants, casino, clubs, etc are in the middle three decks (Lobby, Atlantic and Promenade) They will have a show every night in the main Lounge or Theater. Vegas style, Comedians, Ventriloquist, Hypnotist, etc. These shows are very well done and you should take some in. They also have a wide variety of bars and lounges from the Piano Bar in the Main Lobby to a Disco to Karaoke. If you are not old enough for that they also have a dance club for teens only. (Although I assume you are over 21) During the day most of the activities are on the Lido deck where the will have live music and, as is customary on Carnival, a party like atmosphere. There is food 24/7 (all included in you cruise price including room service) with most of the restaurants and buffets on the Lido deck. The main dining areas offer 5 star cuisine. The food is excellent and might I suggest you try something different. Keep in mind if you don't like it you can simply tell them and they will get you something else. I always get two desserts, one of something I might normally get and a backup (usually the chocolate melting cake which is excellent) in case I don't like it. You're on vacation so enjoy yourself and the crew of the ship is there to make sure you do. All in all Carnival is a great cruise if you looking for a fun and exciting time. On the other hand if you just want to laze around and do nothing...you can do that too. (Back of the ship deck above Lido) Although it can be pricey you might want to pamper yourself at the spa. (Spa Deck at the front of the ship) If you go while you are docked they will offer some excellent discounts. So if your back from you excursion early or decided to just cruise around town look into getting a spa treatment. Having been on four Carnival cruises in the last three years I can assure you that you will have a great time.
