What can i expect from their customs officers when boarding and leaving. Do they check for drugs and items bought in other countries ie (souvenirs and other imports) or just drugs. Do they check at all?

  1. They didnt check me for c**p, they just asked if i bought something from Mexico.

  2. you shouldnt be bringing drugs into the country

  3. I took a Carnival cruise out of Port Canaveral. The Carnival people don't care about anything, but the US Customs people might search your carry on. If you buy anything like Cuban cigars and they find them, they will fine you $110 per cigar. So put them in your suitcase and buy some duty free alcohol on board so you have something to declare for cover. As for drugs, the customs people have dogs. Ports are federal territory. You should forget about it.

  4. The best answer I can give you is it depends on the port. I would assume they are going to check everything, and if they don't you are lucky. They aren't going to look at your custom sheet and say you wrote that you purchased $500 in souveniers, so let me see the receipts. They do have dogs that sniff for drugs. You do want to pay attention to what is and what is not allowed in the country, like cuban cigars are not allowed in the us. You can board with one bottle of wine or champagne pp over 21 (only when first boarding, and no other alcohol is permitted). If you need them to open in dining room, they charge you. You cannot bring fruit or vegatables in from other countries because of the chance of diseases, but that is all I can think of. You can look at carnival's website for more information, or they will tell you on the ship. I would only be concerned about the things that are illegal, or if you look like you are hiding something. If you bought more souveniers than you should have, don't worry about it.

  5. LOL, the customs guy was more interested in my son's playstation than anything else.  He just stamped the forms and sent us on our way.

  6. They can check whatever they want.  I have never had them check anything of mine, but I do know people who have been caught with Cuban cigars or undeclared liquor.  I would not risk it.  The penalties are too great.  Just fill out your declaration form honestly, and you have nothing to worry about.

  7. the real answer is you don't never know...every time i go it's different and cruise length, or the port  doesn't seem to make any difference

  8. Do not bring a cuban back. I am dead serious. They have sniffing dogs.
