  1. beverages are not included nor are tips on Carnival, pack light eat lots and have fun.

  2. It is a small ship with a great cruise director.  All of the basic ammenities are included.  Food, non-alcoholic beverages, no soda, shows, etc...  By the way, the Sensation is at Port Canaveral, not New Orleans.  You can catch the Fantasy at New Orleans.  Any of the Fantasy class ships offer a great cruise experience.

  3. Unfortunately, you've chosen Carnival's oldest ship - the Holiday. She was built in 1985, making her almost 23 years old. She was refurbished in 2000, 2002, and 2006, so she really looks pretty good! She is also considered small by today's standards at 46,052 tons and carrying only 1450 passengers (many people like those numbers!). She is rated at 3 out of a possible 6 stars, and does 4 & 5 night cruises out of Mobile, Alabama to Mexico.

I'm not saying that you won't have a fun time, but if you're looking for balconies or any of the other bells and whistles that you have probably seen on TV, you'll be disappointed. However - if Carnival is your "line-of-choice" and you can get over to New Orleans, the Sensation (1993 - refurbished in 2000 and 2006) at 70,367 tons, does the same itineraries. The Sensation - although no balconies, has a lot going for it. I was on the Inspiration (a sister ship) last year with my family and really enjoyed the cruise. Just some food for thought!

    Have fun and bon voyage.

  4. Well as a Travel Agent I have had the time to enjoy the Carnival Holiday as well as others...

So I must tell you, Holiday is the oldest, but as a first timer you will have alot of fun.  The Director was not all that great in Feb. 2007, but if they have changed him it is probably better.

Anyhow the holiday is small and very nice.  They had alot of late night buffets.  Whcih were great.  Also make sure you check out the restaraunt at the Bow of the ship (thats the back).  the front is the AFT.

Make sure not to purchase excursions on the ship.  What I suggest is goto Cozumel and goto Mr. Sanchoz beach.  It is private, quiet, and great food.  not to mention it is free.  The cab ride is $7 per person.  Don't pay anymore.  Or even rent you a scooter for $40-$50 a day.  Worth the price.  also make sure to go across the street from the port to the 7-11 store and buy a cheap Pepsi or Coke to bring back on the boat.

They are like $.99 for a 1 liter.  No tax...  Very cheap.  But back to Mr. Sanchoz beach.  Go there and do the Horseback riding for $25, Wave Runners $ 50 for 2 people, Snorkle $35, Food $6 for a feast.  Point blank is that don't waste your money excursions on the boat.

Make sure to enjoy all activities on the boat, i.e. Battle of the sexes, if married, the newly wed game, etc.  Games are fun!!!  do it do it do it!!!

  5. remember your cruise documents, passport, photo id(drivers license).  you will need to budget for tips each day, and extras like casino, specialty restaurants, excursions.  Go to cruise critic.com there are many who could give you great advice.

    enjoy..
