Carola Bott stuns Simone Prutsch in Women’s Singles semi-final at Slovenia International 2012
Germany’s talented female shuttler Carola Bott delivered a phenomenal performance when she outplayed the higher ranked Simone Prutsch of Austria in Women’s Singles semi-final of FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 on Saturday, May 12, in Slovenia.
Bott, who was fourth seed in Women’s Singles draw of the championship, displayed wonderful performance in the whole tournament and continued her gutsy run in the semi-final as well where she toppled the top seed Prutsch with a decent margin.
The lower ranked German lady was impressive in the court as she played with tremendous precision and won the battle in three games by taking 62 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the top seeded Austrian tried her best to control the pace of rallies but failed to manage it in the deciding game and suffered with a shocking defeat from her lower ranked German opponent.
In the opening game, both ladies showed their determination in the court when they played with aggression and also remained close in the opening half of the game.
After the interval, they continued playing positive badminton while keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level.
The score reached at the concluding phase when Bott played a few wrong strokes and eventually lost the set with a tight score of 19-21.
In the second game, Bott changed her strategy and managed to remain ahead of her higher ranked opponent on the board.
Until the one-minute break, the lower ranked German was going slightly ahead of her opponent on the board.
After the interval, Bott continued her positive play in the game as she did not lose her focus in the court and bagged the set with a margin of 21-17.
In the deciding game, it was the German lady who took an early lead by playing flawless badminton. She was in full control and did not committed unforced errors.
Until the mid-game interval in the deciding set, Bott was in good position on the board as she managed a comfortable lead.
After the break, the German remained on track by playing fast and positive badminton in the game and won the set with a comfortable margin of 21-15.
Bott advanced into the final after beating Prutsch in semi-final clash with a 19-21, 21-17 and 21-15 score on the board.
