Carolina Hurricanes planning on working line with Eric and Jordan Staal together-NHL offseason Update
After a blockbuster trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins and successfully acquiring one of the hottest centre players in the league, Jordan Staal, Carolina Hurricanes are now working on how to put him and brother, Eric Staal, on the ice at the same time to
their advantage.
Carolina Hurricanes’ head coach, Kirk Muller, is definitely excited to have the two brothers united and ready to become an unstoppable duo, but it unfortunately, is not as easy as it sounds.
For Muller, it is chemistry which he will be looking for when he puts the two brothers on the ice on the same team for the first time this preseason training camp and if there is not a spark, the coach probably will not take his chances during the regular
season.
“I think that’s the great opportunity with training camp, is to experiment,” Muller told the Raleigh News & Observer at the team’s prospect camp on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. “We’ve got lots of (preseason exhibition) games. The first initial thing, right
now, we definitely want to give them an opportunity to play together in those games and see if there’s chemistry.”
By not taking his chances, Muller does not mean that he will not try and ignite that spark himself. Obviously the veteran coach knows how to influence players into playing better with each other and can harness the talent where needed and unleash it when
needed.
Jordan and Eric Staal are without a doubt some of the most competitive players on the ice today. Coming up big is something Carolina Hurricanes will be bound for if the two can figure out how to control the match after figuring out perfect coordination skills.
“Lots of times, until you put guys together … you know, you’ve got to get a feel for it,” Muller added. “I know they have a little history from before. But I think it makes sense right now to start off with them and see how they work together.”
Hopefully, Jordan and Eric can turn the Carolina Hurricanes into a Stanley Cup winning team again and next year will be one to prove it.
