Carolina Hurricanes plays host to Ottawa Senators in the fourth and final meeting between them
Carolina Hurricanes will be playing Ottawa Senators in another one of Tuesday’s games at the RBC Center.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have taken place so far during the course of the season, Senators won the first game 3-2.
However, Hurricanes bounced back and won the last two games, 7-1 and 4-0, respectively.
Hurricanes have a good record against Senators while playing on home ice and they will be looking to win their seventh game in a row against Senators when the two teams square off tomorrow.
The regular season campaign ends in a few weeks and Senators need to continue their form in the last few games.
They have come up with some very important wins which have really made things tighter in the Eastern Conference for the playoff spots.
Hurricanes, on the other hand, will be looking to notch up some important points as they are still in the running for the playoffs and need to win if they want to keep up pace with the other teams in the running for the playoffs.
Hurricanes are at the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference and three points behind Buffalo Sabres.
They need to come up with some decent results with both the teams having 10 games left to play for.
Hurricanes have missed the playoffs for the past two seasons and if they don’t want to miss it for the third time then they need to step up their game.
Hurricanes were going through some good form until recently when they lost six of their last seven games.
They occupied the final playoff spot in the Conference for quite some time but now they are at the ninth spot and three points adrift of Sabres.
Hurricanes won their last game against New York Islanders this past Friday after a very intense game, 3-2 in overtime.
"It was really important as a team that you can find that desperation level, and we found it," Hurricanes’ coach, Paul Maurice, told reporters after the game. "To be able to change gears and have some good things start happening is really important, because
now we know it's there."
Both teams have played 72 games during the course of the season out of which Hurricanes have won 33 in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score 76 points.
Senators have won 27 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score 63 points.
Senators have come up with some dominating performances mainly due to the efforts of the new trade which brought Craig Anderson.
"We feel he's brought stability," Murray said. "The (goaltending) position is one that we need if we're going to retool, rebuild and improve this hockey team going forward."
