Carolina Hurricanes wins 6-2 against Montreal Canadiens to get near the playoff’s cut – NHL Updates
Carolina Hurricanes hosted Montreal Canadiens at the RBC Center this Wednesday which saw Hurricanes winning the game by 6-2. The game was important for both sides with Canadiens looking to stay in the playoff’s cut while Hurricanes was looking to close the
gap on the eighth placed New York Rangers.
The game started with both teams making a very strong offensive start that saw them piling shots on goal every now and then. There were numerous scoring chances for both sides but the puck didn’t find the back of the net.
Hurricanes with some strong plays finally scored in the middle part of the period to get into the lead. It scored once again a few minutes later to double its lead.
The second period began with Canadiens scoring the opening goal of the period but Hurricanes got back on the dominating roads to score two goals as the period ended.
The final period was again the same with Canadiens scoring the opening goal and Hurricanes scoring two goals to win the game by 6-2.
Jeff Skinner, Hurricanes’ young centre, was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and made an important assist.
Both teams made a strong start to the game offensively and it was Hurricanes who scored in the 12th minute through Jeff Skinner’s well placed flick shot to get into the lead.
Canadiens piled up quite a few shots as well but it wasn’t as successful in finding the net.
Hurricanes kept on firing shots on goal and scored once again in the 16th minute through Skinner once again to double the lead. The period ended with no further goals and Hurricanes leading 2-0, making 15 shots on goal while Canadiens made 17
shots on goal.
The second period saw Canadiens scoring in the sixth minute through Michael Cammalleri during a power-play. Hurricanes wasn’t far behind as it scored in the seventh minute to double its advantage once again. Jamie McBain scored the goal with a powerful strike.
The 10th minute saw Hurricanes further strengthening its lead with Joni Pitkanen scoring from a powerful strike. The period ended with Hurricanes leading 4-1 as it made 11 shots on goal while Canadiens made 15 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play began with Canadiens scoring the first goal once again in the 10th minute through P.K Subban. However, Hurricanes was on fire as it scored twice to seal the game.
The goals were scored by McBain and Cory Stillman in the 16th and 18th minute, respectively.
The game ended with Hurricanes winning by 6-2 in the end, making 9 shots on goal during the period while Canadiens made 8 shots on goal.
