Carolina Marin hammers Tatjana Bibik in Women’s Singles quarter-final at Spanish Open 2012
Spain’s ace shuttler Carolina Marin showed her elite craft as she grabbed her spot in Women’s Singles semi-final after hammering Russia’s Tatjana Bibik in quarter-final clash at Spanish Open 2012 on Saturday, May 19, in Spain.
The higher ranked Marin, who is top seed in Women’s Singles draw of Spanish Open, put up strong show of flawless badminton and easily ousted her lower ranked rival Tatjana who was sixth seed in the tournament.
The in-form Marin showed up her elite class in the court when she displayed a phenomenal performance and won the battle in two sets by consuming just 35 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Russian had no answer to the attacking approach of her higher ranked local opponent as she failed to compete well in the event and lost the match in a one-sided manner.
In the first set, Marin opened her impressive run in the court with a remarkable control and did not face any problem from her Russian opponent in setting up an early lead.
The top seeded Spanish lady was in her prime form and made her home fans cheered by playing on a different level. She took a superb advantage in the game until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Marin continued her positive and crushing run in the court as she did not drop her speed at any stage and took the opening game with a one-sided 21-7 score on the board.
In the second game, Tatjana played slightly better badminton as she kept her speed at maximum level but failed to disturb the rhythm of her opponent and remained behind on the board.
Until the one-minute break, it was the higher ranked Spanish lady who took a remarkable lead.
After the break, Marin remained positive and aggressive in her approach while remaining focused in the court.
The top seed did not take much time in grabbing the second set with a superb 21-12 score on the board.
Marin showed her brilliance and wrapped up victory in this Women’s Singles quarter-final with a comprehensive margin of 21-7 and 21-12.
