Carolina Panthers defence ready to take on Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III – NFL News
Carolina Panthers defensive line believes that attacking Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) is the only way to stop the player from reaching the end zone when they face him in Week 9 game on Sunday, November 04, 2012.
This is according to Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy, who gave this opinion on Wednesday, October 31, while talking to Charlotte Observer. He said:
"We've got to attack him. I think that's going to be his downfall. He's young. If you're going to give him a chance to make plays, he's going to make plays. If you sit back on your heels, he's going to attack you because that's all his instincts. That's
all he's got."
Panthers defence has been in great form, but so does Griffin. The quarterback is leading the National Football League (NFL) with 70.4 % passer rating. That is an unbelievable achievement considering the fact that Griffin is playing his first season in the
league.
Griffin struggled to find his target in the Redskins’ last game that was against Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw away 10 dropped passes, but the blame was mostly put on poor work from his wide receivers.
There is no doubt that RG3 is not an ordinary rookie and has shown his true colours in many occasions. This includes his outstanding performance against New York Giants in Week 7.
He finished that game with 20 of 28 for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Hardy carried on and said:
"If you put him on the ground, you hit him in the face, I feel like he's going to go into his shell a little bit, and he'll have to think about it. He's a quarterback. That's what they do. He's fast. I personally haven't played anyone like him. I can't recall
right now."
Panthers defensive team has been doing pretty good this season. Only last week they managed to get six sacks in the first half against Chicago Bears. They also forced two fumbles from Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in that game.
However, it will not be an easy task for Hardy and company to stop an in-form player like RG3.
