Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton aiming to win more games this season – NFL News
Although Carolina Panthers managed to secure more wins last season than they had done in the 2010, their quarterback Cam Newton is not satisfied yet and wants to win even more games this season.
In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, Newton said:
"If I were to tell a person my goals, it might blow their mind -- so I'd rather keep it to myself, but my expectations for myself will never be exceeded by someone else."
Panthers’ 6-10 finish last season was not easy to swallow for the 1st overall pick of the 2011 draft and the quarterback now hopes to lead the team in a better way.
Newton showed a lot of emotion whenever he walked out of the field losing a game. However, it marked a good impact on other players, who finally found someone taking responsibility of the team. Newton’s teammate Ryan Kalil said:
"Although the media kind of crucified him for it and people outside saw it as a negative, I think guys really responded to it in a positive way because to us it sent a signal that this guy really cares about winning football games -- not for himself, for
this football team, It means something to him. And I think that kind of attitude is something that's inspiring."
Newton’s performance in his rookie year was indeed inspiring as he shocked the football fans with an outstanding debut. As a rookie quarterback, Newton was able to put on such a performance that was not even expected from any no. 1 pick.
Newton scored 35 touchdowns and covered 4,051 yards during the season. His performance was rightly awarded as he received the National Football League (NFL) Rookie of the year award.
He looked much mature as a player despite the fact that he did not get a chance to properly train with the team during the offseason because of the NFL lockout.
