Carolina Panthers will pick Andrew Luck in 2011 NFL Draft
Sources say that if Andrew Luck makes the decision to enter the 2011 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers will choose him as their quarterback.
The redshirt sophomore from Stanford finished his season on Monday in the Discover Orange Bowl. He has until January 15 to decide if he wants to enter the draft but there are reports that say he will most likely decide to stay in college.
However, the Panthers continue to stay optimistic about picking the top prospect in the country, according to draft analysts. The team agrees with the analysts and won’t even consider trading down if Luck is in the draft.
Luck did not wish to answer any questions about his future after Stanford’s win in the Orange Bowl on Monday.
"I think there are a lot of worse decisions you might have to make in life," Luck said. "I don't mean to be rude, but I'd rather not address that subject anymore."
There have been some rumours that the top quarterback prospect and Jim Harbaugh, coach for Stanford, would be a package deal for the Panthers. However, Carolina owner Jerry Richardson said that they have not spoken to Harbaugh at all about him coming to
coach in Cincinnati and team officials say that the situation with the Stanford coach will not change.
The Panthers have already sent requests to the San Diego Chargers to interview defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and to the New York Giants to interview defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. Although the team will likely hire an NFL coordinator, they have not
ruled out potential head coaches from the college level.
Luck of the PAC-10 conference is currently the most sought after quarterback in the United States. He has thrown for 3,338 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, giving him a rating of 170.16.
