Caroline Hedwall fails to make an impact in Dubai: Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
The Swedish golf professional, Caroline Hedwall came into the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters as one of the top contenders for the title.
However, she failed to threaten the players on top of the leaderboard due to an average performance throughout the tournament.
The only high point on the Majlis course for the Swedish professional came in the third round when she carded a five-under 67.
In her first round, she carded a score of 69. This score was three shots adrift of the top placed Shanshan Feng.
Hedwall made two birdies in the second round, one on the 2nd and the other on the 18th hole. Her second round included a bogey as well, which she made on the first hole. She finished her second day with a one-under 71.
Hedwall’s worst performance of the tournament came in the final round when she carded a par 72. In her final round, she made four birdies but her effort was in vain when she shot four bogeys.
The Hero Women’s Indian Open, which finished earlier this month, saw the best of Hedwall as the Swedish golfer made an excellent comeback to threaten the top contender and leader of the tournament, Pornanong Phatlum.
Hedwall demonstrated an amazing round of golf to push herself all the way up the leaderboard after a disastrous first round show in the India.
Much was expected from Hedwall as she came into the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters but she could not maintain the same level of play as that of the professional golfer from mainland China, and the eventual winner of the tournament, Feng.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Chinese, as she claimed yet another title on the Ladies European Tour.
Hedwall has had a pretty decent season. So far, she has won four tournaments on the tour. The Swedish golfer said that she is a fairly better performer under pressure.
She added that the race to the title will be something to look forward to as the participants are one of the top players on the LET.
Hedwall clinched the 10th place in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, which is an average result for a player of her standards.
