Caroline Wozniacki cruises into the fourth round at BNP Paribas Open 2011
Top seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki destroyed 28th seeded Spaniard Maria Jose Martina Sanchez in straight sets. She earned a breadstick to advance to the fourth round at the 2011 BNP Paribas Open on
Monday.
A former top twenty player, the Spaniard had led the head-to-head 3-0 before the match. But the Dane, who is enjoying her 22nd week as world number one, after losing it for one week to Kim Clijsters,
outshined Martinez Sanchez in every statistic to reduce the deficit.
Ranked 29th in the world, Martinez Sanchez stood no chance against the top notch Dane. Despite overwhelming Romanian Simona Halep with a bagel, she was nervous against the 20-years-old Dane. In the
opening set, she committed two double faults, saved only a single break point and had a really low first serve percentage of 28 percent as compared to Dane’s 70 percent.
On the other side of net, Wozniacki was in her top form as she held her opening serve, then broke Spaniard’s serve and again held her serve to take the lead 3-0. The 28-year old Martinez Sanchez finally got on board as she
held her serve in the fourth game. But it didn’t stop the raging Dane who then clinched the set with a breadstick by winning next three games. She also registered an awesome 71 percent win on her first serve.
Wozniacki, who recently won the title at Dubai and had a final berth at Doha, carried her winning ways in the second set. She tackled the Spaniard with great tact holding her opening serve. Martinez Sanchez re-formed as she
also held her opening serve and then two more times in the set. However, the Dane outclassed her in the final set as well, as she broke the Spaniard’s serve in the fifth and the ninth game to win with a score line of 6-3. She again had a higher first serve
percentage in this set and earned an amazing 65 percent win on it.
Altogether Wozniacki clobbered 12 winners and 13 unforced errors to Martinez Sanchez’s 22 errors as she looks to stay on track to win her second WTA title this year.

"I'm happy to be through," a gleaming Wozniacki said after ending the Spaniard's run. "She's a tough player, so I knew that this was not going to be an easy one."
She will next face 22nd seeded Russian Alisa Kleybanova who reached this spot after dumping 13th seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta in straight sets.
