Caroline Wozniacki qualifies for quarterfinal against Kaia Kanepi – China Open 2011
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki avenged her loss against Kaia Kanepi in the third round of China Open 2011. The encounter took place on outdoor hard courts of the National Tennis Center in Beijing, China. After one hour and forty six
minutes of battle the top seed Dane knocked out Estonian Kanepi in straight sets of 6-3, 7-6(3) on the 6th of October 2011.
Commencing the first round was the current world number one and as she successfully held her first serve, she rotated the scoreboard to 1-0. Trailing behind her was Kanepi, who too accomplished to place herself on the scoreboard
at 1-1.   From there onwards, the score progressed on even terms and the score tied at 2-2 and then at 3-3. Neither of the players wanted the other to take a lead and they met a blow for a blow.
During the last three games Wozniacki cut the goose chase by taking out her agame and utilized the serve-break-serve method to assault her opponent. As Wozniacki held serve in the seventh game, she went on to break Kanepi in the
eighth and as she served for the set, she smashed a big backhand shot to clog the opening set victory.
The second round of the match was initiated by Kanepi and in the first two games the players broke each other one after the other and tied the score at 1-1. The toe-to-toe run carried well into the second set as the players held
won on alternate games to level the score at 2-2. Wozniacki then capitalized on a break point and by holding her serve in the following game, she took a mini lead on 4-2.
Amidst the following four games the players held serve but Kanepi tied the score again at 5-5 in the tenth game by breaking Wozniacki once. Eventually as the players bagged another two games on their serves, the score was pushed
into a tie breaker at 6-6.
Although, the head-to-head run continued right till the end of the second set, in the tiebreaker Kanepi soon lost steam. Breaking her opponent early on, the number one seed rushed to an early 1-0 lead. The game progressed with
the continuation of service and from there on, the Dane gave a couple of points in between. Nevertheless, she maintained her lead throughout and standing at 6-3, the Estonian erred and endorsed a point o the Dane. As she clinched a 7-3 tiebreaker win, she
sealed a straight sets victory.
Caroline Wozniacki will be facing Italian Flavia Pennetta, who ousted Dominika Cibulkova in the third round.
