Caroline Wozniacki ready to register a hat-trick of titles at Copenhagen – Tennis News
Former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, is eyeing her first title win this year. The place she is heading to be her favourite playing arena, the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has been winning the title for the past two
years and looks to register a hat-trick by successfully defending her title. She has seen a major slump in her form since the start of the year but recently improved her performances especially during the Sony Ericsson Open at Miami.
Talking about her home soil campaign, she mentioned, “This tournament means a lot to me. It's great to play in front of my Danish fans who have been following me my whole career. It's just amazing to be able to play in front of
the home crowd." A player that is unbeaten on a platform for the past two years will need some heroic performance from someone in the women tennis to dethrone her. She might have seen a slump in her ranking but her enthusiasm to battle it out until the end
hasn’t decreased one bit.
It will be a classic tournament despite some big guns missing out due to another simultaneous tournament running in Barcelona. However, the Dane is least concerned about the level of field and is focused on the task of becoming
the champion once again. She is the top seed player and on paper the most difficult to beat until some majestic upset happens on the way.
Two top competitors that might come in the way of the Dane are the second seed German, Angelique Kerber, and the third seed Serb, Jelena Jankovic. Kerber is in supreme run of form having won her maiden title of 2012 in Paris. Jankovic,
however, is in dismal run of form. She has not seen peak of her class since the start of the season.
Wozniacki will be looking to nail anyone who will come in her way. She is in desperate need to win a title to boost her morale. This might be a perfect platform for the Dane to regroup and start the clay season at a high-note.
The Roland Garros French Open is up next and she would not like to portray a poor play just before the year’s second big tournament start.
The tournament qualifiers are already under way and the first round matches will began on Monday. Wozniacki will take on the Pole starlet, Urszula Radwanska, in the opening round clash.
