Caroline Wozniacki shares off court commitments are the reason of her down fall – Tennis News
Former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, has put the blame of her decline on the media commitments and promotional work she has to do for her sponsors.
The Danish star has said that top players have a very tight schedule, as besides training for their sport, they have to deal with the off court stuff including interviews to the media and all that, which puts a lot of burden on
the body.
Wozniacki started this season at the top of the world rankings but she has dropped out from even the top 10. Currently ranked 11th in the world, the Danish player has won only a single WTA event in 2012 so far and that
too just few weeks back.
The 22-year-old super star was asked to tell the reason of her recent decline by reporters recently and she gave this response, "Sometimes people don't realise how much attention, how much media, how much off-court stuff there
is when you're at the top of the women's game and sometimes it's just tough to get everything together and your body just says 'I can't any more'."
Wozniacki reached the top of the world rankings for the first time in October 2010. She ended the 2010 and 2011 season as the world number one but this Danish beauty was often criticised for being the top ranked player without
winning a Grand Slam.
The right-hander’s best performance at Major is her runner-up showing at the 2009 US Open, when she lost to Belgian legend, Kim Clijsters.
Wozniacki failed to reach even the last-four stage at any Grand Slam this year, getting upset in the first rounds at the Wimbledon and US Open.
She added, "Other players maybe have the opportunity to practice four hours a day, whereas you maybe have one and a half, but you need to make the most of those one and a half hours. At some point you're going to be a little bit
tired and it's going to affect your work."
Many people think that Wozniacki’s relationship with the Golf star, Rory Mcllroy, is the reason behind her downfall but she disagrees with this idea.
