Caroline Wozniacki; snatches top rank against rival Shahar Peer (fixed headline)The Danish tennis veteran Caroline Wozniacki has regained the world number one tennis ranking after thrashing her Israeli rival Shahar Peer by 6-2 and 6-4.
The Belgian number one tennis ace Kim Clijsters had usurped the top spot of tennis from Wozniacki but the Dane has shown her sheer determination by qualifying for the semi finals of the Dubai Championships. The match between the world number one Wozniacki
and current world number twenty Shahar Peer proved to be a pretty easy battle for the twenty years old as the Israeli ace totally failed to give a strong challenge.
Despite of expressing that her aim was not at all, the top rank of the world but to play consistently well, the Dane veteran Wozniacki seemed pretty motivated for the number one position. After the match Caroline seemed pretty relaxed and satisfied with
her performance. She told that presently her major focus is to improve her game and stay over the winning track. She added that her complete concentration is to win the event.
Caroline will face the Serbian tennis ace and former world number one Jelena Jankovic in her next match. According to some sporting critics the next match of the event is not at all going to be an easy pill to swallow for the Dane as Jankovic possesses the
right amount of experience and class to thrash any player of the world. Moreover the Serbian current world number eight has improved her playing form as well therefore it is expected that the semi finals match between Wozniacki and Jankovic is going to be
pretty exciting.
Wozniacki told that she has already expressed her thoughts about the matter as she is not at all sure that she will be able to snatch the world number one rank or not. She continued and told about her current playing form that she is feeling pretty fresh
and is in a good shape to play. Her major focus is to give her full over the playing court; added, Wozniacki.
The match between the Dane and the current world number eleven Peer was expected to be a pretty thrilling match. But from the start of the game Wozniacki showed her class in a better way and made the match pretty tough for the Israeli star. Caroline seemed
in-control and dominated the court well.
Shahar Peer played a better game in the second set of the match and recovered well when she was down by four points. But all of her efforts were gone in vain as Wozniacki sealed the victory in a quick succession.
In other important matches of the tournament the twenty five years old Serbian veteran Jelena Jankovic hammered her ace Aussie rival Samantha Stosur after a pretty tough battle of tennis. It was a three setter match in which the Serb used her experience
well to outclass the Aussie ace by 6-3, 5-7 and 7-6 (7-4).
After the match Jankovic looked very delighted with her performance and told the media that she was aiming for this kind of performance. She continued that she has not played many matches this season and she was in need of crucial victories to clinch the
perfect momentum. She added that she is very happy with the way she has played as everything went right according to the plans. Jankovic further added that she is glad that she has done a wonderful job and hopefully she will keep the winning streak alive for
the rest of the tournament.
Dubai Championships event has entered into a very thrilling stage. No doubt the semi finals of the event are going to be full of action and agony. As a fan of tennis we can hope for the best and cheer for our favourite player.
