Caron Butler not interested in Dallas Mavericks; Bulls and Clippers possible destinations: NBA News
After Caron Butler was offered only a one year contract by the Dallas Mavericks, one thing has become clear that the veteran small forward will not be seen in a Mavs jersey next season.
After gracing the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Wizards in his career, Butler joined the Mavs last season and after playing only 29 games, he suffered a ruptured tendon in his right knee on January 1. The injury
forced him on the sidelines for the entire duration of the regular and post season and with the Mavs having to cater for five other free agents, it was always thought that Butler would part ways with franchise in the free agency.
The player with a career scoring average of 16.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals has now become the most sought after entity in the free agency and the teams most interested are the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles
Clippers.
The Bulls desperately needed a shooting guard last season. Given that Butler posted a career three point shooting best of 43.1 last season and has a career field goal average of nearly 44 percent, Butler might just be their man.
On Monday, the two parties held talks about the possible future together and after the meeting Butler’s tweet was encouraging;
"That went great," Butler tweeted after his meeting with Bulls personnel. "Now headed to the west ..."
Butler’s next stop was Los Angeles, not the Lakers rather the Clippers.
The Clips have been trying to boost their roster for quite some time and with Blake Griffin on the verge of delivering to his promise, the franchise needs a strong supporting option. The talks between Butler and the Clippers were
also very productive, so much so, that the two sides agreed to talk again on Tuesday.
Butler's agent Raymond Brothers told ESPN LosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne.
"Both of the meetings today were very very good," Brothers said of the Bulls and Clippers. "Caron is grateful to every team that's interested in him."
As per the sources Butler will also meet the San Antonio Spurs, New Jersey Nets and the Detroit Pistons in the trip and will then make a final decision on his move.
