Question:

Carpal tunnel surgery recovery for stay at home mom?

Hi, my wife, a stay-at-home mom to a 2 and a 3 year old, needs to have carpal tunnel surgery on her dominant hand. We are trying to plan on the amount and types of help that she will need during the recovery time. My questions are: How long should recovery (limited activity) take? What types of activities will she need to avoid? Can she still do most of the day-to-day tasks needed to take care of the kids during her recovery period? Thank you for your help.

  1. My aunt is undergoing Carpal Tunnel surgery as well.

She has one 2 year old, one 3 year old and one 5 year old.

Recovery takes about 2-3 weeks. Things you must avoid:

Lifting heavy items during recovering times.

In more severe Carpal Tunnel Surgery Cases, driving may be limited.

But the most important factor is the first one.

  2. A stupid question to ask online. Obviously your lady has a doctor that is going to do the surgery. Do you think he/she may be the expert to ask

    rather than us computer junkies?
